Cardiff Team Volunteer at Community Foodbank!

Give Back Day is a huge part of our identity here at Hunter. Each year, every employee takes a paid day out of the office to volunteer for a charity or cause in their community. This year, our Cardiff office teamed up with Cardiff Foodbank and here is what they got up to.

Over the course of the day, the team painted the breakroom walls as the foodbank were renovating their warehouse. They also spent time assembling tables and chairs for the breakroom.

The team chose to use their give back day to support Cardiff Foodbank because, as stated on their website, “1.4 million emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in the community in just 6 months. This is 69% higher than the same period 5 years ago.” Hunter Cardiff wanted to support the foodbank in their mission to see a future where there is no longer a need for services like theirs.

“It gave me a really good understanding of how it all works and the impact it has on those in need. Their job is not to provide just food, they help push those in need into the right direction. Sam, the coordinator said his job is to put himself into redundancy, then he’d know he’s done his job correctly…” Darren C, Recruitment Consultant.

“The give back day was fascinating to see how the operation really works (Its more than just putting food in a bag). It really brings the

community together and sheds some positive light around the festive period when times are usually tougher. ” – Kieran R, Recruitment Consultant.

“It was an incredibly uplifting and eye-opening experience. What struck me most was how the food shelter wasn’t just providing meals; it was creating a sense of community and dignity for everyone who walked through the doors. The experience reminded me how small acts of kindness—donating food, volunteering time, or even offering a smile—can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.” – Sam P, Senior Consultant.

“For me our give back day was a real eye opener – you don’t quite realise the level of struggle people go through until you’re confronted with it. I came away from the day with a sense of wanting to help and we will be putting an action plan together to see how we can help as a team on a more regular basis ” – Jack L, Senior Consultant.

The team were also lucky enough to be the first to get a picture in front of the foodbanks new mural, painted by local graffiti artist ‘Tee2Sugars’.

The team also donated 29.6kg of essential food and supplies which is enough to provide three local people with emergency supplies for three days.

Community is one of our core values and being able to support an essential part of that community in Cardiff has meant a lot to Hunter and the Cardiff Team. Thank you to Cardiff Foodbank for accommodating us and allowing us spend the day with you.
