Hunter Selection at the Black Nore 10k 2025: Community, Coastlines and Charity
At Hunter Selection we are proud to support events that bring people together, celebrate local sport and make a real difference and the Black Nore 10k is exactly that.
On Sunday 28 September over 200 runners took on the scenic 10km coastal course in Portishead. With clear skies, sunshine and stunning views of the Bristol Channel it was the perfect day for a run even if the mixed terrain and hills made it a tough one.
Rob Baxter Takes on the Challenge
Our very own IT & Digital Director, Rob Baxter, ran the race this year wearing bib number 15 and finished in a fantastic 00:59:45. Rob had this to say about the experience;
“I was delighted to run in the Black Nore 10k yesterday, an event that Hunter Selection | B Corp™ are proud to sponsor. It’s great for us to be able to support Portishead Running Club and the local community. It’s a great challenge with beautiful scenery throughout. It’s probably the toughest course I’ve ever done though, so apologies for the state I look in the last photo! It’s the Cardiff Half Marathon next week and this was perfect preparation!”
From the early climbs to the final stretch along the esplanade, Rob and every runner really earned their medals and had a blast doing it.
Running for Weston Hospicecare

This race is about more than just personal bests. Weston Hospicecare was the chosen charity again this year and the day raised valuable funds to support their work providing care to people with life-limiting illnesses in North Somerset.
Mark Ireland from Portishead Running Club shared his thanks
“I wanted to say on behalf of Portishead Running Club thank you for once again supporting our Black Nore 10km event which took place yesterday.
As in previous years, this was a huge success with over 200 runners completing the course in glorious weather. The event was run and marshalled by over 70 volunteers from our club all wearing the great marshal vests that Hunter sponsored for us last year!!
We have had amazing feedback on what is a growing community event which we have been able to build on year on year with help and support from Hunter and the other sponsors.
As in previous years, our chosen charity for this event was Weston Hospicecare who also attended yesterday. They had a successful morning with their pop up stall and once again Portishead Running Club will be able to make a healthy donation to the hospice as a result of the event. It was great to see Rob taking part again, his face in the pictures says it all but we know he loves it and expect to see him back next year.”
A True Community Effort
The Black Nore 10k is all about community. 70 plus volunteers helped marshal the course, cheer runners on and keep the day running smoothly. As well as Hunter Selection, a number of other local businesses helped make the day happen including LIFE:ALIGNED Chiropractic, NASA Accountants, Kinisi Run Hub, Plantforce and Café Lido!
We are genuinely proud to sponsor the race, see colleagues like Rob take part and watch the local community come together to support a great cause.
Congratulations to everyone who ran, volunteered or cheered. It was a fantastic day and we cannot wait to do it all again next year!
