12 Hour Shifts – 4 on 4off Permanent Days (7am-7pm)

Our client is a leading food manufacturer, with a reputation for product quality which is second to none and industry leading standards. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an electrically biased engineer, that has a core background with PLC’s, automation and control systems improvements & developments.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Focus on the development, upgrades and improvements on all the site PLC’s, control systems, HMi’s, automation & robotics
- Working closely with the automation manager on all projects
- Support and assist the maintenance team with production & packaging machinery breakdowns & PPM’s
- Assess all areas of continuous improvements of all automation systems, in order to effectively reduce downtime, improve plant availability and product quality
- Project work – installation, commissioning, modification, upgrades & development
- Carry out regular audits of the engineering team & site to ensure appropriate electrical standards, safety & specifications are adhered to
- Preparation, administration and upkeep of electrical schematics & drawings of production systems
- Continually look and ways to upgrade & maintain the site PLC systems and documentation
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Must be an electrically biased engineer, with strong automation, controls & PLC skills
- Have served an apprenticeship to ideally HND Electrical Engineering
- Able to “plug & play” on a laptop on PLC systems
- Happy and able to assist maintenance engineers on breakdowns and PPM’s when required
- Must be able to make decisions by yourself to improve systems & automation
- Worked to a high level on PLC systems, HMi’s, SCADA Systems and control panels
- Electrical installation, commissioning & testing experience
- Worked in some form of fast-paced manufacturing, ideally food or FMCG
- Excellent problem solving & fault diagnosis skills
- If previously worked within a projects food machinery role that would be great
- Continuous improvement / process improvement mentality
- Right attitude and character – willing to train, develop and help out in all areas of engineering
- Worked on high-speed food production & packaging machinery previously
- Experience of motors, sensors, control panels, conveyors, pneumatics, inverters, servo drives
- Flexible to work other shift patterns if needed
