£52,000-£55,000 + Bonus

Our client is a leading packaging manufacturer, part of a multi-billion-pound global group, with a reputation for product quality which is second to none and industry leading standards. Due to succession planning for the site they are looking for a brand-new Engineering Manager to develop & grow the engineering function.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of X2 shift engineers, with the aim to increase the headcount by 2023
- Happy to be a hands-on manager to begin with as they grow and develop the team
- Build business cases for capital investment, procure suppliers & develop structure
- Drive forward, improve and manage all maintenance activities across the site
- Develop and manage the PPM system for the plant
- Support the plan of workload and set priorities for maintenance
- Manage the engineering budget (£250k per annum) including CAPEX and Capital projects
- Look for areas of continuous improvements & implement lean manufacturing activities
- Create new SOP’s, method statement, RAM’s, RTW’s
- Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets are achieved
- Health, Safety and Environmental management – analyse & monitor data
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Must be happy to be a “hands-on” manager – understanding a clear vision of succession planning & development of the engineering department
- Be an electrically biased engineer by trade, with considerable mechanical experience
- Ideally have previous experience as an engineering manager / leader
- Must have worked in manufacturing – FMCG/Packaging industry would be great
- Able to manage complex budgets, set and meet goals/targets
- Strong and effective communicator, approachable and dynamic
- Must be “tough-minded” when required and carry sufficient credibility when dealing with business
- Continuous improvement mindset, knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
- Able to train & develop engineering team members
- Previously have developed new PPM procedures
- Understand manufacturing needs – efficiencies, quality & budgets
- Able to analyse & report on data to senior management level
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Health & Safety management
