About the Company

We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading Exeter based manufacturing company known for producing high-quality, premium products and employing a dedicated team of professionals across manufacturing, engineering, and business support functions. As their business continues to grow, they are looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer with good sheet metal experience to their engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Produce detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Create and modify sheet metal designs for production.
• Develop products from concept through to manufacture.
• Support prototype development, testing, and product improvement projects.
• Ensure designs meet quality, cost, and performance requirements.
• Manage design documentation, BOMs, and engineering change requests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, or similar.
• Degree educated or similar within an Engineering discipline.
• Strong sheet metal design experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Experience producing manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacture) principles as well as DFMEA.
• Understanding of laser cutting, CNC folding, fabrication, and welding processes.
