A market leading manufacturing company is looking for an experience Product Design Team Leader to join the New Product Development team at their site in Manchester. The task is to ensure design delivery is met within budget and timeline, while maintaining the highest quality output for a team of Product Design Engineers. The business is looking to expand their team and are experiencing record production numbers. With a range of clients globally this opportunity offers long term technical challenge and progression.

Role Description

Responsibility for the delivery of all Work Packages associated with Product Design, while overseeing and monitoring the product execution
Provide technical advice on Design Best practice found on experience & research
Responsible for product design schedule & maintaining product design KPI measures; reporting to the Head of Department and logging & implementing agreed actions.
Regularly communicate the product design schedule status; escalate any deviations to timeline, cost, scope, quality, benefit, and risk in a structured collaborative manner.
Ensure designs are modelled to highest standards preparing detailed/customer 3D & 2D data in Catia V5 in line with company modelling guidelines; coach others to ensure best practice is applied.
Attention to detail, ensure the Product Design team are working to tight tolerance control to mitigate risk associated with production components.

Skills and Qualifications

Degree qualified in field of product design engineering or similar
CMI level5 qualification in leadership & management or similar
Experience with Catia V5
Experience with Solidworks – desirable
Track record of leading design teams or motivated to lead
